    Spam
Be careful when you receive a supposed email from someone via Ebay, i.e. an inquiry about an item you sell, especially when you've got no auctions running. Another good hint is finding such an email in a mailbox that you *don't* use with your Ebay account. Same with weird spelling mistakes.

Today's spam had it's strange spellings carefully hidden.

Subject: "Bu.yer has responded to your question about this item."; with exception of some spelling quirks like the subject line and "e.Bay" (the dot is just visible as a gap, a slight variation of the original logo), the mail looked pretty much like the originals. Disabling html mail formats and chosing the pure txt form might aid in discovering fake messages, as well.

All links were linked to "http(:)//bisik.net/mail". <-- please do NOT follow this link.

I've made it a habit to check suspicious links before clicking, for example by hovering the mouse over it (in a webbrowser window, i.e. when a link is posted in a blog entry) or right-clicking it, copying the link and pasting it into a text document (for links in emails). C&P~ing them into a browser window is not recommendable, as you might accidentally load the page - which is what you'd like to avoid in case of a genuine spam link.

    Current Mood: sceptical
